Bowen therapy for your dog or cat
Cats and dogs are usually pretty playful creatures and because of this, they can get themselves
into some sticky situations. The spine of a cat or dog is very flexible and it is not uncommon to see them twist, turn and jump all
at the same time. Sometimes they can come off second best though and may show symptoms like limping or unable to walk in a straight
line. Bowen therapy in this instance can be very effective in relieving the tension to these muscles. Bowen therapy increases blood
circulation and lymphatic flow which can sometimes bring relief within minutes. As well as relieving muscle tension, some of the other
benefits of Bowen therapy for your pet are improved circulation; improved digestion allowing for weight loss, weight gain and improvement
in skin disorders and it can bring about calmness and stress relief. Bowen therapy is very gentle and a lot of animals nearly fall
asleep during a treatment. One to two treatments is usually enough to bring about a good result in 80% of cases.
Schuessler Tissue Salts for dogs, cats and all other animals
What is involved in a consultation?
Treating our smaller
furry or feathered friends is similar to treating horses. With these animals we have to get creative as their face is covered in hair
or feathers and they donít talk out loud, but just like in humans, there can be many causes of mineral deficiencies in dogs, cats,
birds or native animals. For a start, they can be genetically predisposed to them, they may be living in an unnatural environment,
the other animals that they are living with may be causing them stress or they may be fearful such as in the case of a rescued native
animal that is being rehabilitated. These are just a few of the reason why these animals can become mineral deficient.
One of the
common causes of deficiencies with dogs and cats which can usually be resolved fairly simply, is diet. The feeding of an unnatural
diet of processed and pre-prepared foods high in added vitamins, minerals and preservatives can disrupt the biochemic balance of the
body. Some of the side effects may be aggressive behaviour, allergies or skin disorders, flatulence, obesity, bloating or lethargy.
consultation will be very thorough and will take into account medical history, diet, exercise, lifestyle, health and stressors; this
will help to determine which minerals are deficient.
Flower essences are powerful catalysts for helping people and animals to help themselves. They allow you to have a better understanding
of your own life plan and purpose. They give you the courage and confidence to follow that plan which can make life seem so much happier
If you have experienced trauma in the past or currently are ill and feel like there is no light at the end of the tunnel,
then maybe a course of Flower Essences are worth considering. A happier and healthier state of mind will help your physical body heal
much quicker and put you back on the right path. Animals also respond very quickly to flower essences, whether it be for trauma from
an accident, loss of a friend, aggression or timidity or to improve the trust and relationship between the animal and its owner.
Essences are administered to people by putting a few drops under the tongue daily for a few weeks and for animals it can either be
put into their water bowl or licked directly off your hand.
A Reiki treatment feels like a wonderful glowing radiance that flows through and around you while you are lying relaxed or sitting
if you wish. Reiki treats your body, emotions, mind and spirit creating feelings of inner peace, security and wellbeing. Most of my
people and animal patients just love ReikiÖ.the animals nearly fall asleep and the people get very relaxed and donít want to leave.
The word Reiki is made of two Japanese words - Rei which means "God's Wisdom or the Higher Power" and Ki which is "life force energy".
So Reiki is actually "spiritually guided life force energy".
I can include 10 minutes of Reiki for FREE at the end of your Bowen treatment
or if you prefer
you can have a full session of just Reiki.
Stride into Wellness
The late Tom Bowen from Geelong in Australia was the originator of Bowen Therapy. He devoted his life to developing this wonderful
technique that is now practiced throughout the world.
Bowen therapy for people
Over the past 50 years Bowen Therapy has achieved remarkable results in providing lasting pain relief. Bowen
therapy is very effective and simple. It consists of small gentle moves each at a specific site on your body that crosses over your
Fascia and a muscle ligament or tendon. When you release the tension in your Fascia it will improve your mobility, increase your energy,
improve your circulation and relax you.
Bowen therapy is non-intrusive and your treatment is done through loose clothing.
Bowen Lymphatic Stimulation
This unique Bowen therapy treatment is designed to help stimulate the lymphatic system. The function of
the lymph system is to drain excess fluid, remove toxins and cell debris, transport nutrients to the blood, protect against invasion
of abnormal cells and carry out immune responses. Cancer patients may suffer from oedema, (swelling, fluid retention) and this Bowen
lymphatic treatment has brought about relief in reducing the pain and oedema for them. Some of the other benefits can be weight loss,
increased energy, pain relief, regulating menstrual flow and reducing infections. It is a very gentle and relaxing treatment. Depending
on your particular condition, you may get more benefit if you commit to at least three treatments a week apart.
Bowen therapy for your horse
Bowen therapy for your horse can be very effective in relieving muscle tension. It increases blood circulation
and stimulates the lymphatic system to eliminate its waste products. To understand this more simply, you need to know what Fascia
is. Fascia is like a big strong sheet that helps to hold the muscles and organs of the body in the right place. The fascia is where
the body eliminates waste products to and it is where the muscles and internal structures draw fresh nutrients from. Fascia looks
a bit like bubble wrap and is filled with a viscous raw egg like substance when it is healthy. If trauma of any kind happens to a
muscle, ligament, tendon, bone or organ, the substance contained in the fascia stops being fluid and becomes more like cooked egg
white and tightens around the muscle or structure that it is encasing. This will compromise all the structures around this affected
area and eventually lead to sore tight muscles, lack of movement, and an animal that is grumpy and unwilling to do what it is asked.
So by applying some gentle Bowen therapy moves in the right places, it will bring back fluidity in the fascia and restore health and
A Bowen treatment for your horse will take about an hour.
More than 130 years ago Wilhelm Heinrich Schuessler from Oldenburg in Germany established that there are 12 essential mineral salt
combinations in our body. You need them all in the right balance to keep your mind mentally fit and your body healthy to aid in the
prevention of disease. If you do things like not eat well, work too hard, stress or worry about things, not drink enough water, sit
in front of a computer all day, suffered a major injury or illness, or donít sleep enough, it can easily deplete you of these essential
So if you feel it is time to start taking control of your life then why not try Schuessler Mineral therapy.
Schuessler Mineral therapy for People
What does a Schuessler Mineral therapy Consultation involve?
The consultation process to find
out which minerals you are deficient in and why is very thorough. The aim is to find the cause of your mineral deficiency and remove
it if possible. There will be no band aids put on your symptoms, only a mineral regime and maybe some lifestyle changes suggested
to get your body rebuilding itself again. Firstly your full medical history and lifestyle from birth is taken into account. Then an
extensive amount of questions about diet, exercise, lifestyle, health and stressors are discussed; this will start to determine which
minerals you are deficient in. It is then further clarified by using facial diagnostics, an in depth skill that interprets facial
signs including lines, shadows and colours on the face and tongue present at the onset of disease. This will help to determine the
cause of your mineral deficiencies and assist you in understanding why you feel like you do. A treatment plan is then decided upon
and tailored specifically for you. It will consist of taking a few tablets three times a day in most cases. They can also be put into
your water bottle and sipped throughout the day for ease of administration for people with busy lifestyles. The tablets are designed
to be chewed and absorbed by the mucous membranes in the mouth which enter directly into the blood stream and are taken up by your
cells within 40 seconds. This bypasses the digestive system and the acidity in the stomach from destroying the tablets. The tablets
have a slightly sweet taste and dissolve very quickly in your mouth and are GLUTEN FREE.

What is involved in a consultation?
If you have read the previous passage about how we assess
people for their mineral deficiencies, you will see that facial diagnosis and lengthy discussions take place. With horses, we have
to get creative as their face is covered in hair and they donít talk out loud, but just like in humans, there can be many causes of
mineral deficiencies in horses. For a start, they can be genetically predisposed to them or they may be living in an unnatural environment
where they do not have access to fresh grass or much room to go for a run, their workload may be strenuous or they may be required
to maintain a good level of concentration which both require a good store of minerals. These are just a few of the reason why your
horse may become deficient.
One of the common causes of deficiencies which can usually be resolved fairly simply is diet. There are
many owners out there that are killing their horses with kindness by over supplementing with additives and processed foods that contain
unbonded Ions and are high in sugars and salt and doubling up on vitamins and minerals. Some of the symptoms of this over supplementation
can present as a lack of concentration, anger, nervousness, depression, separation anxiety, lethargy, ADD type symptoms, poor hoof
structure, over or under weight, waxy build up on the coat, dull and dry coat, mane or tail, flaky skin, diarrhoea, dehydration, tying
up syndrome, EPSM, cracking noises in the joints, sweating, retaining fluid, redness or yellowing of the whites of the eyes, poor
muscle tone, licking iron gates or your hand or chewing wood.
The consultation will be very thorough and will take into account all
of these symptoms plus more and find out why they are occurring. By the end of the assessment you should have an understanding of
the basic biochemistry of the body. I think this is very important because the more informed you are about your horseís health, the
better you will be able to make the right choices for your best furry friend.
How long will it take before I feel better?
Yes this is the million dollar question.... it depends on how long you have been deficient
for, how consistent you are at taking the tablets, if you are drinking enough water, and making the correct diet and lifestyle choices
to improve your health and reduce your stress levels, then you will get the most efficient rebuilding and repairing of the biochemic
structures of the body.
Most people start to feel better within the first four to eight weeks but you may start to feel better and
be sleeping better by the third day.
Schuessler minerals can be used in conjunction with Prescription medications but please consult
your Doctor before you start your mineral regime if you have any reservations at all.
If you are having elective surgery, stop taking
your minerals 48 hours before hand.
Schuessler Minerals for First Aid
Schuessler minerals are fantastic for first aid. You can use
them for quick recovery from coughs, colds and sore throats, cuts and lacerations, ulcerated wounds, to speed up the recovery of broken
bones, ligament or tendon damage plus much more. *Only as prescribed by a qualified Schuessler Practitioner.
What does my horse's treatment consist of and how long do I treat for?
The treatment generally consists of dissolving some tablets
in a syringe and syringing it slowly into your horseís mouth or the tablets can also be dissolved into a small amount of honey and
water in a bowl and licked up by the horse. The length of time that the horse needs to be on the minerals is generally between 4 to
8 weeks, it depends on the severity of the symptoms and the length of time the deficiency has been there for. Sometimes it takes a
few days for your horse to get used to the syringe, but the common complaint I get now is that the horses love them so much they chew
the syringe and break it because they canít wait to lick it up! So please be patient and persist.
Once your horse is back to optimum
health there is no need to continue giving the minerals, it can be maintained by good diet. It is a good idea to get your horse rechecked
at the change of the seasons just to give them a boost and make sure they are on the right track.
The Schuessler minerals are very
versatile, for instance, you may like to give your horse some kali phos on the days leading up to a competition to help with calmness
and concentration, or some Mag phos and Nat chlor and Ferrum phos would be handy for an endurance horse to improve fluid movement
in the gut and maintain flexible muscles and stamina. There are so many uses.
Schuessler Minerals are widely used by Vets and Doctors
in Germany and should be prescribed by a qualified Schuessler Minerals Practitioner. The suggested remedies above will normally assist
horses, but ownerís discretion is required for Veterinary support.
How long before I start to see changes in my horse?
tend to show improvements in behaviour within a week or two. Their coat colour may change and go darker or lighter and other physical
symptoms may start to resolve within the two to four week mark. It is important to review at the 2 week mark so we can see if there
is any need to add in other minerals or reduce the ones that are being taken.

What does the treatment consist of and how long do I treat for?
The treatment generally consists of a couple of tablets, once
or twice daily either chewed by the animal one tablet at a time or all of them can be dissolved in a favourite flavoured liquid such
as yoghurt, milk, honey, brine etc and licked up by the animal. The length of time that the animal needs to be taking the minerals
is generally between 4 to 8 weeks, it depends on the severity of the symptoms and the length of time the deficiency has been there
Once the animal is back to optimum health there is no need to continue giving the minerals, it can be maintained by good diet.
It is a good idea to get the animal rechecked at the change of the seasons such as when they are shedding their coat or they
start growing a winter coat just to give them a boost and make sure they are on the right track.
The Schuessler minerals are very
versatile. For instance, for working dogs it may be worth considering a maintenance program of Calc phos, Nat phos, Mag phos and
Silica to maintain good bone health and to assist in prevention of arthritis. For the family pet it is handy to keep some Ferrum phos
and Mag phos on hand for those cuts, bruises and strained muscles they may get from running around and playing with their friends.
There are so many uses.
